About Me

Cara Blouin, LPC

Hi!

My name is Cara. I’m a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania. I went back to school for a career change after ten years in education and non-profits. I got my Master’s at Temple, and I’m in training at the Gestalt Institute of Philadelphia. I teach psychology to undergraduate students.

I’m a person-centered therapist, which basically means that I don’t see myself as knowing more about you than yourself. It’s important to me to be honest with you about who I am and what’s happening in our therapeutic or teaching relationship. I’ll only work with you if I think we can do good work together.

I’m also a mindfulness teacher certified through the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program in the insight (vipassana) tradition led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and the co-founder of West Philly Insight.

I’m a cis white woman, and I believe in owning my identities and the impact they have on my relationships. Anti-racism work has been central to my life and training. I don’t think therapy or meditation can exclude awareness of social location.

These are my guesses about what it might be useful for you to know about me- but we can always talk about what you might need to know to feel comfortable working with me!
